Lino Artist Research: Hubert Tereszkiewicz

These linocuts instantly caught my attention because they are so complex. I feel they are an interesting take on approaching portraits. I think what I find most fascinating is just how long and how much effort would be required to do these. I’ve done some simple linocuts and they took time, these must have taken days.

The use of linocut in these portraits adds a really nice texture in combination with the line pattern incorporated. I also feel it helps to give a really dark, sinister look to them. I like how the line quantity increases in areas of shadow, and decreases and becomes more sparse in highlights.
